Championship Haircuts and Championship Recovery

We have been unbelievably fortunate in The Sports Recovery Suite to have the Kerry men’s and ladies football, as well as hurling and camogie, teams as regular clients over the last number of years. While the performance of the men’s football team in Croke Park last weekend resulted in Sam Maguire coming back to Kerry for the first time since 2014, the ladies team will wish to emulate this achievement as they take on current champions Meath in Croke Park this Sunday.

This weekend is also significant as it marks the beginning of an exceptionally busy period for men’s club football teams within the County. The split GAA season has led to a condensed season for the club player which results in playing a large volume of games in a short period of time. This is particularly true in the case of Kerry where the club championships will be immediately followed by the County championship. While this may be a fantastic time to be a GAA spectator it may prove to be a difficult for players. Playing so many games in such a short space of time can cause a significant increase in player fatigue which may result in an increased chance of sustaining injuries. This is where we can help!

Our facility has been developed to enhance the recovery potential of athletes and teams. We strive to optimise the recovery of athletes so that they can perform to their potential and to help them avoid injury. As sports enthusiasts and athletes ourselves, we are acutely aware of the disappointment that injury can cause for a player and their team.

We are delighted to have established excellent connections with clubs around the County who have used our facility for team bonding and athlete recovery over the last number of years. Equipment such as Normatec Compressions boots, Hypervolt Massage Guns, the Cryotherapy bath, the infrared sauna and the jacuzzi ensure that athletes can recover faster and feel better during their championship window. The space and bespoke layout of our facility also ensures that teams can have an opportunity to have fun and bond as they engage with their recovery practices.

Following feedback from a number of clubs, we have added an athlete treatment room to our facility this year. Teams can now avail of this room when using our facility for team recovery sessions by either bringing their own professional or requesting the use of our sports therapist.

Many clubs have already been in contact booking sessions around their championship schedule. This year we look forward to welcoming more clubs to use our facility and for more athletes to reap the rewards of what our suite has to offer. Having already worked with the elite hurlers, footballers and camogie players in the County and beyond we are confident that we deliver an excellent service that is extremely beneficial to teams. We look forward to welcoming all club players with the County to our facility over the next couple of months but we are also keeping a close eye on the Limerick hurling, camogie and football championships. We are delighted to help so many athletes from West Limerick and we look forward to working with them also over the coming months.
